What are EMF's?
EMF Stands for Electromagnetic Field which is a form of radiation that is emitted from electrical currents. "Electromagnetic fields of all frequencies represent one of the most common and fastest growing environmental influences, about which anxiety and speculation are spreading. All populations are now exposed to varying degrees of EMF, and the levels will continue to increase as technology advances."- World Health Organization
Are EMF's Dangerous?
It is believed that EMF's can have an effect on the human body, but only at high levels. With the burst of technology over the past 20 years, there are very few studies linking EMF's to biological change within the human body. However, it is always advised (and in some countries, prohibited), to NOT live close to power lines. As high voltage power lines emit a voltage of up to 10,000 volts, the levels of EMF's emitted from power lines are unlike much else that tends to surround us in our home environment.
In addition to power lines, many people may often be exposed to high level of EMF's at their place of employment. For example, I have a friend who's aunt works at Union Station in L.A. and has had cancer 4 times. I'm not qualified to state this is caused by the EMF's she is exposed to at work, but if I were her I would certainly be looking for a new job!
So as an added service to our clients, we have an EMF detector and offer the service of walking their home (or potential new home) and showing them the readings on the reader. If this is a service that you are interested in, please request a quote.
